Yes, I'm a masochist

I don't know of a blog that angers me more than this one. Yet I still read it - and no, I am not really sure why. Probably for the same reasons that I listen to Michael Savage.

How someone can both use the Bible to criticize certain areas of the church and be filled with such hatred and bigotry towards other Christians is beyond me.

Go see what I mean.

Oh...and be careful if you try to leave a comment - if she doesn't like what you have to say, there is a fairly strong possibility that your comment will not be approved, even if it falls within the "comment guidelines".

Enjoy!

I think that Smiles, Gringo, Brendan, Eric and I have encountered this before. Hell, I have been guilty of it. I have since changed my ways. I might have been a very narrowminded christian on the lookout for cults when I was younger. A certain college really opened my eyes to how silly that mindset is.

Yea...I know what you mean. But this site is different than just a little bit of fundamentalism.

She has a passionate hatred towards megachurches, Rick Warren, the Emergent Church, etc. It is actually somewhat scary...

I admit I have just began to dip into the site. I left a few comments that are still awaiting approval.

Here are a few that you could start with:

Wow, just wow. I am still waiting any of my 4 comments to show up. Might have to just tackback the site.

Henry...I saw a few of yours also. She often approves a bunch at a time, so they don't show up on the recent comments.

Kyle...I responded to her response to you, but she won't approve my comments at all - regardless of what they say! :)

"Anyone using the comment section to promote false doctrine will also be denied commenting rights."

That is amazing. She's effectively outlawed disagreement on her site.

Look at this new post.

She even views small group bible studies as dangerous. Why don't we just take people's bibles away so that they're not tempted to interpret God's word for themselves, while we're at it?

Well Kyle...it is clearly because people like you and I are Biblically illiterate:
With some of the opinions coming through on this blog from readers, some of which are clearly biblically illiterate, it's not a small issue.
And of course it is because of small groups!

This lady is *unbelievable*
Seriously - I don't know how she reconciles her harsh judgment with the love of Christ.
Just started "Blue Like Jazz" last night :)
I should repent for my last 8 years of leading, promoting and participating in small groups I guess...

I guess the point she's trying to make is that there's too much potential for heresy when you have untrained people teaching. But then again, what was the early church? Untrained people teaching each other.

I'm sure I won't get posted either. Ha...oh well.

Dave,

I couldn't handle it. I actually sent a posting to the site that said her views were the product of the blood being cut off to her brain by the hardwood pews in her church.

Think I'll make it on the site:)

Is this a loving, non-judgmental group of people or what? You are doing the same thing you claim she does, accept nastier. Grow up boys. Real gentlemen can disagree with a lady without kicking her to the curb. As believers, aren't we supposed to love even those we disagree with? You guys are hypocrites--a bunch of men, ganging up on a woman who is a sister in Christ, whether you like it or not. If treating Ingrid this way is acceptable, I'd like to know the Bible's justification for it.

Christiana, thank you for the comment.

A few questions:
How have we been nastier? How have we kicked her to the curb? What reasons do you have to say that I am a hypocrite?

I do not believe that I said anything that was untrue. Ingrid refuses to allow many of my comments, regardless of the fact that they are truthful and fit within her comment guidelines. I have seen on the blog where people were completely bashed and condemned for thinking or acting differently than Ingrid (or her commenters) believe is appropriately. Often times I have seen things that are blatantly untrue (most often from other commenters). I have seen direct personal and insulting attacks on individuals - both others commenting and people that are written about on the site. I think one would have a truly difficult time justifying many of these actions Biblically.

I simply posted this so that my readers can see what I am reading. I thought that people who read my blog would be interested in reading the site for the same reasons that read it.

And for the record, we are not all men. And our (or Ingrid's) gender has absolutely nothing to do with what we are saying.

One more comment on this quote specifically. You say we are ganging up on Ingrid. I understand what you mean, and that was not my intention.

But I do find it odd that you are perfectly okay with everyone on Ingrid's blog ganging up on other people. Much of what goes on at Slice is bashing churchers, ministries, Christian leaders, and pastors. Almost everyone on Slice agrees with the posts (partly because Ingrid often does not approve comments that disagree, as least from my personal experience). But what I am saying in this is that this is exactly what you are accusing us of doing: ganging up on fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

I just hate that she does not allow dissenting views.
